Wordless Wednesday

“On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it does not need any description."

More about Lilac...

CRAFTFest is fast approaching.

I would like to introduce you to some fellow stall holders from my team! Here are a few teamies from Team Lilac.

The first featured artist is Chiara Stone.

Each of her adorable characters have his or her own story to tell.  For instance, meet George the Giraffe! You will just fall in love with George and his quirks!
George the Giraffe

Age: 8
Likes: Fluffy clouds and long, wavy grass
Dislikes: Angry people, animals that growl

George is a giraffe who likes to spend lots of time by himself. His favourite hobby is to find smallish trees so he can eat the very top leaf on each one. He has some very strange personal habits, including lying on his back with his long neck and all four legs wiggling in the air.

Next, please welcome to my blog, Cat Barker!

It's Gordon the Gorilla!  (I am sensing a theme here... ) Gordon is part of Cat's store Plusheeze's; a place where you can find many adorable hand-sewn friends!  Be careful, though, you may want to adopt all of them!

Gordan The Gorilla Plushie - With Banana
This cute furry fellow makes an awesome gift, He's beautifully made and so cuddly!
He comes with a bright banana and a whole lot of love!

Finally the dynamic duo of Garreth & Carla Falls have a stall you really should visit.

Here, you will find soaps in all shapes and sizes; and the photos make the scents just leap off the page.  Your imagination and what you know will surely have you lingering in this online shop! In keeping with our theme, here are some lovely sheep soap! (I am pretty certain, however, that they will not smell like sheep)

Well, there you have it!  Please take the time to browse the items here and also the stall links on CRAFTFest! Each photo should take you to the stall and then the stall should have links to where you can purchase these lovelies.  Until next time, my friends!

Are you a lurker?

(Author:  Lu Smith)

No, I'm not looking for Peeping Toms...

and I'm certainly not looking for dogging sites!

I mean, do you join sites and teams, read forum and threads, (and read blogs) and think to yourself
'well that's all very interesting, but I have nothing to add'?

Shock Revelation

I know that a lot of you will find this difficult to believe, but I do a bit of quiet lurking myself.

'Hello, my name is Lu - and I am a lurker"

Let's lurk together

Lets form a band, let's hold hands, and sing a song (oh Ok, maybe not that then) - we could still lurk together though.

Don't worry, I'll stand at the front and do all the talking, all you have to do is smile and nod politely in the crowd.

Have you got a stall on Craftfest?

I know, I know - I'm always banging on about Craftfest, but I'm just peering out to see how many lurkers there are out there.  There can't be too many, cos most of the stall holders seem to be on the forum supporting each other, offering tips, word of mouthing each others stuff and generally spending far too much time on the internet and not enough time making stuff (oops sorry, I think that's me).

But what about the lurkers?  The ones who are a bit short of time? Or not that confident?  Or just not that keen on t'internet? And who are...wait for it...making stuff to sell?

Lurkers need help promoting their work too

If you're an artist and/or craftsperson (I deliberately didn't say Artist with a capital A, or craftsperson with a capital C - don't want to scare anyone) then you deserve a bit of promoting yourself.

If you do just one thing...

...then click on this link
and type these words after me
'Hello, my name is ...(insert your own name here)...and I am a lurker'

click Add Comment.  That's it, you don't need to do anything else, just stand in the crowd, smile and nod (and maybe put up a poster when the time comes).

If you're an Artist and/or Craftsperson (see caps on that time) and you haven't got a stall yet, you can join the 154 other stall holders who are mostly doing the aforementioned promoting/supporting/advising thing  here (then come back and read this post again).

If none of the above applies to you, but you're feeling nosey, then visit us at the event 1 September till 8 September 2012.

Finally Inspired

For those of you that follow Clicks' goings on, you must have noticed that I have not added new photos for quite some time.  Lately, I have been uninspired and haven't really ventured away from home; until yesterday.

Yesterday, we took a drive to lovely Beaufort, SC; about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour trip south and east.  On the river, there are quite a few antebellum houses and Spanish moss hangs all about the town.  Our first stop was at the marina, nestled on the banks of the Beaufort River.  Of the many photos I took, I chose these to share.

The first is your basic marina shot, but what I found most intriguing about it is the difference in the boats.  Some are boarded and look overused.  Others look cared for and loved.  Some seem to be expensive while others, well, they get the job done I am sure.

The second photo is just odd to me.  The water here is only a few inches deep; surely the tide is out and the dock seems "over embellished" (probably why I loved it so).

Further from the shore, we found a National Cemetery; along the likes of Arlington National Cemetery but in contrast, quite small.  Nevertheless, I was compelled to stop and pay respect to our veterans.  This cemetery is very well maintained and tidy.

Across the street from the National Cemetery, literally across the street, was a cemetery that has seen better days.  The gravestones were "dirty" and the sites needed raking.  The Beaufort Cemetery had a mixture of old and new, young and old as most cemeteries do.  Loved ones left flowers and flags and this one angel caught my eye; serene and covered with dirt.

While a day trip for you may be quite different than a day trip for me, I can say that inspiration comes in many forms.  Thought provoking grave sites and neglected marinas make me think.

What inspires you?
